Memories

It's crazy how music and smells can spark memories so vividly!! I remember a chapstick..it was LipSmackers (weren't those things the greatest?). I had it in junior high, it was my favorite..a caramel/raisiny smell. Anyways, I caught a whiff of something that smelled like it today while I was out walking my dog..I have no idea where it came from, but I was instantly transported back in time to my junior high advanced algebra class..Mr. Nielsen was the teacher, and I cried every day before I had to go to that class!! I was the only 7th grader in a sea of 8th and 9th graders and I hated it! I eventually quit using that chapstick because every time I did it put me into a melancholy mood..and for a while I couldn't figure out why until I realized what it reminded me of!

And speaking of chapstick, for the longest time the smell and taste of the green spearmint chapstick (you know, the kind everyone has) reminded me of cutting class my freshman year of highschool to hang out with this guy I dated for a while...he always wore it, and he was the first really good kisser I ever kissed...! The minty smell particularly reminds me of one spring day that we skipped class and drove out to Copperton Park with some of our friends..he and I just chilled under some trees for a while, but I remember feeling dizzy after he kissed me that time..I can laugh at it now, but at the time is was so romantic! Haha :)

And last but not least: MUSIC!! I know that everyone else out there can totally relate to hearing a song on the radio and being sucked back in time. I was putting together a playlist for this blog and with each song I thought of some trip, guy, summer vacation, emotional moment...I get very nostalgic when I listen to music by myself..lol. ANYWHO, I would love to hear about the stuff that sparks memories for you guys..I know this isn't really a 'tag' thing, but I'm doing it anyways! Cheryl, Jen, Wendy, Rachael...all ya'll!!

Oh how funny. That was me you went to Copperton Park with. That is one of those places that every time I am out that way I shoot back into time! The best part for me though is my last memory I have there is with my sweet hubby, so I particularly like thinking about that!
