Friendship

FRIENDSHIP, n. 'The state of being friends'.  Well THAT'S about as mundane and self-explanatory as you can get!!  I have another definition (i found it back in highschool, where it was quite accurate at times!) FRIENDSHIP, n. 'A ship big enough to carry two in fair weather, but only one in foul.  The sea was calm and the sky was blue; Merrily, merrily sailed we two.  On the tipsy ship, with a dreadful shout, The tempest descended and we fell out.' ~ Armit Huff Bettle. (Devil's Dictionary).

So, what do you folks define friendship as?  Is it the person who answers the phone at 1AM to listen to you sob?  Or the person who drops everything to come help you, no matter what? (that's my sister, btw).   Are you still friends when that person finally tells you she thinks you're being immature and you need to quit  being selfish and taking advantage of people?  I guess we'll find out..

I have been feeling really grateful for my friends lately! One of my definitions of a friend is someone who is there for you and supports no matter how long it has been since you last saw them or talked to them. I have some amazing friends from high school who I rarely see, but who are truly wonderful friends. I love that I am able to pick up and talk to them like I see them everyday. There is never any awkwardness, just good times!

Ah friends. I don't know how to explain it either. There are so many different levels of friends it seems. The one like you described, the one who reminds you of yourself and understands exactly how you react to things, friends who you don't talk to forEVER and still when you do eventually talk it's like time never passed. I don't know how to explain them, but all in all, it's amazing how thankful for them we are, no matter what type they may be.

I love what everyone else has said, but to add to the definition of what I think is a friend, is someone who is there for you on your happiest days and still with you on your ugliest. Life is not always roses and its great to know I have good friends who are there for me no matter what my mood is, or how dumb I act, or how unattractive I look or how sometimes I say the stupidest things without thinking before I say it....they are still there for me in a second if I need them. In a world where feeling accepted is needed, I definitely feel that way with the people I love in my life. I love ya megs!:)
